Have your friends have told you how good your photography is? Are the prints you create appreciated by friends and family? Have they have suggested that you start your own wedding photography studio? If so, you may be asking what is your next step? Well, with a little help, you can get started in your very own business.
Wedding photography can provide you with an excellent income, either full or part time. Wedding photography has been the catalyst for many of the top professional photographers. Doing it for yourself of course, means that you get to keep all the money. But, please note that as the photographer, you will often be required to act as the wedding coordinator as well, as these days, most brides cannot afford one. And if there is no wedding coordinator, then it is usually the wedding photographer who will make sure everyone is where they should be most of the time. The downloadable course is designed to help you in all aspects of the days event. As the wedding photographer, you need to make sure that the bride and groom follow your directions. Make them aware that it is in their interest to follow your directions because they want a whole lot of great looking photos for their album.
As you prepare for an event, you need to make sure that all your equipment is ready, and that you have everything you need for the days event. If possible, be sure to have a series of back-ups, a spare camera body, a spare lens and a spare flash in case any of your prime units fails. You should always be prepared so that you never haver to come up to the bride during a wedding and try to explain that you equipment just broke and you cannot take any photos. Again, a death sentence. Your back-up units do not need to be identical to your prime units, but they should be at least close to the same specs. The camera needs to be able to take images at the same resolution as your prime camera, otherwise there will be a noticeable difference in quality of the final prints. The flash unit can be a smaller unit with a slightly lower light output, but if it happens, then this unit will have to do quite a bit of work, so be careful. Make sure that the spare flash is fully charged before taking photos. I have seen a number of photographers get excited about taking some pictures at an event, and they will often just fire away, taking picture after picture, not realizing that the flash is not fully charged for each picture, and so, most of the resulting images will have serious problems, that may not be able to be recovered on the computer. So, make sure that you have good back-up equipment.
Let me ask you, are you ready to take the next step? If you love photography and working with people, the let me ask you if you are ready to start your own wedding photography business? Then you will find that the wedding photography course is designed to get you off to a great start. Everything is in this course, including all the forms you will need. Business forms are provided for you as a computer file that you can edit and personalize to give them your very own identity. This alone will help you and your business look very professional and save you a lot of time and money, so you can get bookings and start making some money with your very own wedding photography business.

Making Money With Digital Photography – Wedding Photography

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Wedding only comes once in a lifetime and people are willing to hire a photographer for it. Imagine that you are having a wedding. Don’t you want to get someone professional to capture the most precious moment of your life?

As a photographer, how do you make money with wedding photography?

Of course the first thing you need is a portfolio.

When you want to be hired as a wedding photographer, this is something you need to invest into. Properly design the layout and the display of your photographs. You need to make your portfolio as unique as possible because wedding is a special event and the couples are not interested in common works that they can find anywhere. Your main focus is to impress your potential clients as they flip through your portfolio.

What if you are just starting out to make money with wedding photography and have no portfolio?

Then, you can work free for your friends, if you are okay with that. After that, get their consent so that you can use their photos as your portfolio. Remember to ask for testimonials. The more testimonials you have the easier you will be hired as a wedding photographer.

Another way for you to make money with wedding photography is to make contact with wedding planners. Wedding couples usually will turn to wedding planners for a photographer. When you have good relationships with the wedding planners, they will refer more business to you.

What you can do is to give discount to clients referred by these wedding planners only. The wedding couples will be grateful to the planners and the planners will be happy that they did the couples a favor and you got business from that. There is nothing better than to make money while keeping everyone happy.

Since you are building relationship with the wedding planners, why not extend your relationship to your local bridal shops, wedding chapels or wedding cake bakeries? You can ask for a space to display your brochures and a small portfolio. You never know that the shop owner is more than happy to help you make money with wedding photography.

Photography Studio Business Plan: Making the Most of Your Space

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

When opening a photography studio, you must make a significant initial, and then monthly, investment in your space. To justify these expenses to investors in your business plan, show how you will utilize the space to its fullest. It represents one of your major assets, and renting such a studio while explaining in your plan that your shoots will primarily be out on location shows poor planning on your part to funders. Studio ShootsConsider what customer markets you should pursue to keep the space booked up with your own shoots as much as possible. This will likely be the highest revenue-generating use of the space for you. Look for the customers that freelance photographers without a studio are unable to gain and market the strengths your space will offer. By investing in some additional backdrops or decorative elements to dress the space, you can expand the options of shoots you can accommodate in-house significantly. Other UsesCan part of your studio double as an office space during downtime? If you can limit your need for separate office space you may be able to cut down on your rent, if you can plan for this before signing a lease. If your lease allows it, you can also rent out your studio to other parties while it is idle, as long as they are for legal uses. This can be for small parties and events or shoots by other photographers, for example. Be sure that those you rent to carry their own insurance to lower your risk and that your agreement with them further limits the liability you take on from their rental. For every day you rent your studio out to another business or individual, you will bring in revenue, but you will also incur an unseen opportunity cost. For example if you rent your studio out for a day for $500 two weeks in advance of a date and then you must turn down a shoot that comes up for that day only for which you would net $1,000, you have effectively lost $500 rather than earned it. Only experience will teach you what rates are reasonable to cover the probability of last-minute shoots coming up.
